The team
Over half a century
of combined experience
Fifty-five years of industrial mastery, thirty-five of architectural vision and the power of Artificial Intelligence, brought together in a single team specialising in GRC, architectural precast concrete and UHPC.
Francisco Javier Regàs Arimany
Mechanical Industrial Engineer
Mechanical industrial engineer with 55 years devoted to industrialised construction. He began his career as technical director in the precast sector and in 1971 joined Escofet 1886, S.A., where in six years he positioned the company as a European benchmark in architectural precast concrete.
Between 1977 and 1980, as manager of another firm in the sector, he manufactured GRC façades, becoming one of the pioneers of this technology in Spain. Back at Escofet from 1981, and for a further fifteen years, he drove highly complex projects in paving, street furniture and façades as part of the management team of Mr Emili Farré-Escofet. In parallel, between 1990 and 1993 he served as Spain's delegate in the drafting of European standards for concrete paving.
In 1999 he founded Architectonic Concrete S.L. in Barcelona, dedicated to the transfer of specialist knowledge. Since then he has advised manufacturers, construction companies, developers and architectural practices in Spain, France, Morocco, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador and India, as well as delivering seminars in Mexico City, São Paulo and several Indian cities. He holds a conviction that defines the way he works: these materials never stop evolving, and every new project teaches something the previous one had not posed.
Juan Carlos Bolaños
Architect
Architect from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (1990), with postgraduate studies in History and Theory of Architecture (1998). In Bogotá he directed the full renovation of the Teatro Municipal (1996–1997) and led, as Manager of Studies and Design at the Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU), the city's pedestrian infrastructure design (1999–2000).
In 2000 he moved to Barcelona and joined forces with Javier Regàs at Architectonic Concrete S.L., dedicated to the research and application of architectural precast concrete and GRC. In 2005 he founded the consultancy Arquitectura y Manufactura S.L., specialising in technical advisory, industrial design of façades, street furniture and paving.
Throughout his career he has designed prototypes of fully precast concrete housing and a modular emergency-shelter system using lightweight fibre-reinforced cement composites. He currently focuses his research on a ventilated façade system with ultra-lightweight concrete of high insulating capacity, conceived to facilitate the energy retrofitting of existing buildings. He actively collaborates in the training of architects, engineers and manufacturers in Latin America and Spain.
Applied AI
David Portabella
Technology & AI Solutions
Software engineer specialising in Artificial Intelligence applied to industrial processes. At the firm, he leads the Applied AI area: the point where half a century of materials expertise connects with the latest computational tools.
In practice, this translates into tangible capabilities: automated synthesis of doctoral theses, regulations and scientific literature; cross-referencing of international patent databases; tender tracking; conceptual image generation, and evaluation of emerging hardware and software solutions — robotics, drones, 3D printing, computer vision — applicable to construction.
All information extracted through AI goes through documentary traceability protocols: every piece of data, figure or reference is linked to its verifiable original source, eliminating the risk of so-called generative AI 'hallucinations'. This material, once refined, is reviewed and validated by the technical directors (Javier Regàs and Juan Carlos Bolaños) before being delivered to the client.
